I thoroughly cleaned my yoga mat tonight after catching someone traipse on it in his soccer cleats. Normally I'd hose it down outside but it's been chilly in the evenings so I dunked it in the bathtub, sprayed it with a vinegar cleanser and then hung it in front of the fan. To celebrate, I did this power yoga workout from PopSugar. I'm kind of picky when it comes to yoga videos. I want them to get straight to the point (mostly for fear of people bursting in at any moment and taking over the "yoga studio" aka our room), and I want to work up a sweat. I'm not a big fan of too much talking and not enough doing.
I've decided I like yoga one of two ways: either completely restorative or really quick and difficult. I'm usually either doing yoga to remove stress or to get my heart rate up in a way that stretches my muscles. I like to tie my hair up in about 2-3 ponytails when I work out because I have yet to find a headband that stays on my head the entire workout without sliding off. If anyone has found a headband that stays put even during a run, please let me know!
The sun peeked out today and Croc was feeling a little more like himself so we broke out of the house and got some FRESH AIR!!!! Look how excited.
The Lyon Street steps were my gym today! No membership fees, no lines, and you cannot beat the view!
I had a love/hate relationship with our stairs at work today. I love the spooky gravestones and spider webs. I hate that my legs had to go up them.
I am SORE today! It's a manageable sore but I definitely feel a burn in my legs when I stand up or move :)
To say I was a bundle of nerves this morning before my long run would be an understatement. I sat in my car for 10 minutes calming my nerves before I used them to my advantage by hitting the path. This morning I ran the farthest distance I've ever gone in my life—18 miles!! I'm really proud of myself.
I spaced out and ran a mile without my Garmin turned on so I actually ran longer than 18. Granted it wasn't my fastest time but I did it and my goal for CIM is to finish and run or jog the whole time so I consider this success!!
