I've never had a hamstring issue in my life, but this week has been a touch brutal. I wanted to ice for a long time so I multi-tasked packing and icing by layering the ice bags between two layers of pants - yoga and running. Worked like a charm!
I packed all the toiletry essentials and somehow grabbed a travel sized mousse instead of hairspray. Pretty sure 1990-something was the last time I used mousse but, hey, we'll give it a shot!
Croc used his new broom gift to sweep up his brother's mini pencil set gift.
We had to wear him out while big brother was at school. It ended up not mattering. He's still awake as I type at 10:00pm and he never had aa nap.
Yep I'm pretty sure the city of Sacramento does have stores that sell plain white bagels but I packed the one I like just in case. Oh and good thing I packed the massive box of tampons! That was a fun unexpected little surprise a week early! Should make for a really, er, fun race.
I truly thought I had my shit together with my husband's birthday today. I have all the beautiful gifts wrapped and the handwritten card and made dinner reservations weeks in advance. Then we arrived at the hotel and I realized I made the reservations for a restaurant far outside the city (how in the WORLD did I manage that when I thought I mapped it?) and there was no way the kids were going to last through a late dinner a half hour away (or me - I was pretty hangry and tired).
So we somehow lucked into a table at The Grange and had some yummy flatbread and clams and roast beef and cheeses. We were really happy to sit down and fill the bellies. Happy Birthday, Jon!!
We went back to the room to open his gifts and for a minute Croc misunderstood me saying, "this is your gift" and assumed it meant a gift FOR him, not FOR HIM to give to his dad.
We didn't have a birthday cake since we didn't have a big dinner so it was a good thing that my mom and friend had some cupcakes in the room already! We sang Happy Birthday...
...but didn't have any candles so he pretended to blow them out. I said I'm pretty sure he got them all out in one breath :)
I was admiring my mom's necklace (we both have a fondness for inexpensive jewelry) and she said, "oh you mean my Ferrero Rocher? Hahahahaha. She's got a good sense of humor.
And she's accurate...
Much as I'd like to jibber jab all night about every exciting thing happening around me, I need to sleep. Rest is important and we have blackout drapes so I am really happy right now.
Good night all!!
