This morning I made waffles and bacon for breakfast for the boys and then we all packed up for the pool! As part of our vacation rental, we get access to the HOA facilities which includes a recreation pass. We were going to head to the lake but my kids love swimming pools so they won out this time. It was a short trip because we didn't pack enough towels or dry clothes and you would have thought we were caught barefoot in a snow storm so we rushed back to the house for watermelon and hot tubbing! This is the life.
Any parent out there knows the best thing about taking your kids swimming is that they eventually work themselves into a tired, zombie-like state of exhaustion. And this means best naps of the century! I rolled into bed with this little cutie and we cuddled to sleep. Croc is a huge cuddle bug and I am holding on to it as long as I can.
When we woke up we were so hungry. I'd read about this chowder house on Yelp and it had really great reviews so we decided to try it out. I was too hungry to wait for the boys to get dressed and in the car (this could take up to an hour on some days) so Jon agreed to run out and get take-out.
There are some things I consider myself a connoisseur of...
But tonight's meal from Morgan's Lobster Shack was also very, very good. The lobster meat was so good I felt like a queen. I could have poured at least a tablespoon of butter on the top to improve it a skosh but man almighty it was exactly the kind of chowder house food you'd LEAST expect to find in a place like Truckee! Well done!
Jon played ball with The Dude on the driveway. This kid has played all kinds of sports in his short life -- baseball, biking, tennis, soccer, swimming, running. I love how he just attacks all the new sports with this really positive attitude. I learn a lot from him.
Earlier in the day I promised The Dude I'd play a game with him and he chose Mastermind. I used to play this game when I was a kid too only it looked a lot more old school back then and I could never quite figure out the pose on the front of the box. Like is she his lady luck and he's a professional Mastermind player? Are they boyfriend / girlfriend? Is a career in board games even lucrative enough to support her mod clothing addiction? We'll never know. These are the stupid things I wonder about.
I digress. If you have kiddos over the age of seven I highly recommend it. It's funny now the manufacturer is marketing it as more of a coding game. I feel like tech toys are the new "go green". The Dude always wants to be the code maker so I can be the code breaker. We are highly competitive (in a fun way).
Tomorrow I'm heading back to the lake! And I'm going to be prepared. No more noobish behavior - I'm stepping up my run game!
