There aren't many things I get excited about opening when they arrive in my mailbox, but today was different.
My Garmin running watch finally arrived and I cannot WAIT to try it out! Clearly Croc can't wait to get his hands on it too. So now how do you operate this thing?
Yes I'm a total nerd and watched the online videos to figure out how to use it and it seems really simple. I'm excited about setting new PRs most of all. I decided I'm not going to sync my Nike running app to it. I'm going to start completely over (a little sad because I was juuuust about to hit 1,000 miles on my Nike...maybe I should run those last couple dozen anyway because my crazy side will not let me sleep at night knowing I could have hit that number).
I didn't do much research on best running watches but Garmin has a good reputation and my favorite runners use it so I imagine it will hold up just fine for my thrice weekly runs ;) Speaking of emojis, I heard this interesting TED Talk on how texting and emojis are changing the way people communicate and it can create barriers for people from different generations who don't fully understand the context around them. I'm having a love/hate relationship with technology right now. ((EDIT: I just re-read this paragraph and I realize it makes absolutely no sense but I'm keeping it so you can get a little glimpse into the beautiful mind of a freaking exhausted human being.))
And tonight was a big night!
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT!!! Did you have this when you were in school? I don't remember doing this in Ohio so maybe it's just a California thing? I'm on the Board of the PTA (don't ask) and let me tell you we were selling waters and chow mein like crazy!! We sold out in less than an hour. I loved walking around his school and seeing all the little details that he might remember some day like the little pots of flowers and the brass bell in the office and all the balls stranded on the roof.
I met his teacher and got to peek at his classroom. I left him a little love note in his desk. I know that kind of thing is going to make him happy when he sees it.
This growth mindset sheet is the best reminder of why he's so awesome. "I love math and hard reading yay!!" I could take a lesson or 20 from this boy.
It was a busy night to say the least. Jon had both kids at soccer while I was doing PTA and Back to School. Sometimes I hear myself type these sentences and I wonder how did I turn into a PTA mom because I sure don't feel like one! I ordered a pizza because I couldn't even fathom assembling a dinner and Jon gave me the "please stop ordering out so much because we agreed to a budget" look when he got home, but I was too tired to acknowledge it. I frankly would have sold my left arm for a slice of pizza at that point. It's beyond me how I can stand in front of boxes of chow mein all night and not think to grab a box for myself. What I really wanted to be eating was this lunch I had today. It's my favorite item at Wise Sons and I get so aggro when it appears on the menu because if you don't get in line early, they'll sell out. So it is truly survival of the fittest when it comes to me and my double hummus mezze platter with a side of pesto pasta!
There are so many reasons why I love this little crocodile but one is because he will literally do a pizza dance with me in the bedroom and then demand we take a bow and then fart when he bends over. It's like living with an adorable 90-year-old man.
Wrapping up the night with dark yoga. I sometimes just sit on my mat and stare. It's like a waking nap for me. Speaking of naps ZZZZZZzzzzzzz z z z . I am beyond tired. Good night!
