Like clockwork, as the anxiety-inducing stuff around the holidays increases, my need to plan our summer vacation increases! It seems like it's always the 2nd week of December when I start searching for vacation rental for the summer. This pic is from one of my happy moments during a weekend stay at a farmhouse up north.

When my mom was in town, we were talking about all the apps that are available now to help people train for races even if they are new to the sport. We've been talking about mom entering a 5K race! It would be her first time ever doing a race so she was understandably unsure how to get herself ready. (Side note: always talk to your doctor before significantly changing up your workout routine!)
It got me thinking about what happens to the bodies of us 40-somethings who are still out there logging miles. I mean I know my chi chis require more lifting than suppressing at this stage of life, but aside from a change in sports bras, is there anything else I should start or stop doing as a runner this age? How should I expect my performance to change over time? I did a little reading and found some things:
