I tried a new udon noodle place near work and somehow managed to noob up the experience! I ordered the Kitsune Udon which had wakame seaweed, tempura batter and green onions. It was pretty tasty except I thought the big brown thing in the soup was a mushroom (which I have problems with texturally - small ones are ok) so I put it in the compost. And then I remembered it was sweet soybean skin which is yummy and I stood there for a good 10 seconds debating if I could pull it out of the compost and live with myself. I couldn't so it stayed. But the noodles and onion were good!
And I said "see you for now" to this amazing human being who is leaving our company. Look at her smile—she is such a good force and I wish her well in her new endeavors! Our kiddos really get along so I'm sure this is not the last we'll see of each other. Life moves forward and people go in and out of it and then some weirdly come back into it after long hiatuses. I love that part about life. I try not to get too sad when colleagues leave or friends move away because I know the good people in your life somehow always find you again!
Friday night and you know what that means... FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT!!! You know the rules: only soft things allowed. There is absolutely positively not a single place in the entire world where I want to be at 5:15pm on a Friday than right here in my home with these people. Even when we drive each other crazy—which, come on, we definitely do!!—we know there's love.
We also desperately need to paint our walls. Wow. Time to start obsessing over wall colors on Pinterest!
Every Friday at work we go through the routine of asking each other "so what are you doing this weekend?" My workmates are pretty young on average and not many have kids or are married so their weekends often involve trips to Vegas or bachelorette brunches in wine country. I really need to come up with something more interesting for my responses which are always some variation of going for a long run / recovering from a run / squeezing in a race. Reminded me of this:
I am currently obsessing about my run right now! I'm going to have to do my long one on a treadmill which will be super strange for me. I cannot believe I used to be a treadmill-only runner. But I guess I'm kind of excited about watching Food Network for two hours!
Here's a throwback photo of my 40th birthday! We had a rager.
And I can't even with this old picture of Croc. That hair, the chubbo arms, the hand in the snack trap, the gummy smile. I want to eat him up!
And I felt a little sad seeing this old pic because I miss this dress. I went on a minimalist-crazy downsize of my wardrobe and donated it but now I wish I'd kept it. I love yellow. Yellow and red are my favorite clothing color combinations. The Dude looks so small here. We were on vacation in Lake Tahoe and were SO hungry in this photo that we ended up eating at that restaurant right behind us.
I'll leave you with this beauty from New Year's Eve 2015. We make crowns every year as our tradition and I love that we actually got everyone wearing them and inside the frame of this photo. It's a first!
What are YOU doing this weekend? You can telling me running. It's okay. I won't judge :)
Have you already picked up your pumpkins and/or carved them? I never know if it's too early and they'll be rotten by the big night!
